Before launching your craft it is vitally important for your own personal safety and the safety of others that you take the time to read carefully the Rules & Regulations as set out by Gwynedd Council. Please adhere to these rules and regulations at all time.

Traeth Bychan is located in Marianglas on the East coast of the island, between Benllech and Llanallgo. The location is a favourite for many watersports enthusiasts, and is a regular haunt for Powersports Ltd (Manchester based Seadoo dealer) and the AVO’s Watersports crew.

It is also a haven for yachting (some of whom are unfortunately a little intolerant of PWC/ jetski users), and has an estalished sailing club (pic. 1).

Launching from here offers you the chance to explore the East coastline of the island, and noteable features including Puffin Island, The Brickworks,The Mouse and Penmon Lighthouse.

The slipway here (pic. 2) is of good, solid concrete construction, and virtually flat. The beach surface (pic. 2&3) is sand but can be quite soft after high tide (as you can see in the picture). Launching off the slip is no problem with 2wd or 4wd, but if you are beach launching we reccommend you assess the state of the sand before taking a 2wd vehicle onto it.

Our advice here (if the sand is soft) is to walk your trailer to the water to launch, or use a webbing strap (always available on ebay) between your trailer and towbar to help retrieve your trailer from the water.

Traeth Bychan has a good, large car park (pic. 4), which boasts a toilet block (seasonal) with outside shower points, which are great for washing your kit off after your ride. There is also a small shop and a cafe here.

*For 2021 onwards, parking fees here have increased to £20 for vehicles with trailers*

Getting There (From A55)

Cross the Britannia Bridge, then continue on the A55 for about 150 metres, and exit at Junction 8.

Continue on slip-road and turn right at the top onto the A5025 (signposted Amlwch). Continue for about a half mile until you arrive at the roundabout  next to which the Four Crosses Public House is located.  Go straight across the roundabout and head for Amlwch on the A5025.

After about 10 minutes on this road you will come upon the small village of Pentraeth. Continue down the hill through Pentraeth and onwards toward Benllech and Amlwch. The next village is Benllech. Continue on, towards Amlwch.

Less than two miles out of Benllech you will arrive in a large open crossroads. This is Marianglas.

Take the right turn signposted for Traeth Bychan and follow the narrow road down to the car park and beach.
